Safety is as important when using a propane preheater as any
other propane appliance. Always use common sense and good judgement
with one of these heaters and they will always perform reliably.
Here are some useful safety tips when using a preheater.
This point cannot be stressed enough. ANY gas appliance should always
be treated with care. As tempting as it may be on cold winter mornings
to start the heater up and go sit in your car, please do not leave
your heater unattended.
This is a general rule for all propane powered appliances. However,
our heaters are equipped with a solenoid valve to prevent propane
from flowing if the unit becomes disconnected from it's power supply.
It's possible if your battery is not fully charged, that the valve will
be unable to open under the pressure from a fully charged propane tank.
Although this would be difficult with our units, directing a flame
toward your aircraft could damage the paint. When using our FireFli
unit, you should also use either our high temperature hose or metal
stove pipe ducting between the heater and the aircraft.
Propane tanks that are on their side or inverted will may allow liquid
fuel to flow into the heater. This can lead to flare ups in the flame
that can be avoided by keeping the tank upright.
One can never be too safe, and we recommend that you keep a fire
extinguisher nearby whenever using an appliance with an open flame.
